The Chillicothe Correctional Center (CCC), on Litton Road in Chillicothe, is Missouri’s main general-population prison for women. It spans minimum to maximum security and holds about 1,700 women. The current prison opened in 2008. It is a separate prison from WERDCC, the women’s reception center in Vandalia, where women entering the state prison system are first received; most women transfer to Chillicothe or another prison after intake.
