How to address personal mail

Since July 1, 2022, facilities no longer accept incoming personal mail and photos. They are routed to an off-site vendor, Securus, at its digital-mail center in Tampa, Florida, which opens and scans them and delivers the scans to the incarcerated person’s tablet (printed copies are provided to a person without a tablet).

Address personal mail with the person’s name and DOC ID number to:

[Incarcerated person’s name and DOC ID#] C/O Digital Mail Center–Missouri DOC P.O. Box 25678 Tampa, FL 33622-5678

Scanned mail is retained at the center for about 45 days and then discarded; the incarcerated person keeps the digital copy. Photos are rejected if they are nude, altered, two-ply, or collaged. Greeting cards are not accepted by postal mail, but digital greeting cards can be sent through a Securus/JPay account.

Legal and privileged mail does not go to Tampa. Mail from courts and attorneys goes directly to the correctional center in original paper form and is handled under the legal-mail rules. Confirm the current legal-mail procedure with the specific prison before sending.

Books and publications

Books and publications do not go to the Tampa center. They must come directly from a publisher, distributor, or approved vendor and are sent by mail to the facility. Used or personally mailed books are not accepted. Confirm the current rules and any limits with the facility before ordering.
