Sending Money in Missouri (Missouri DOC)
How to deposit money to an incarcerated person's account in Missouri — electronically through JPay, or by mailed money order to the Offender Finance Office in Jefferson City — and how account money differs from phone/messaging funds.
How to deposit electronically
Missouri routes money to an incarcerated person’s account through JPay. Electronic deposits can be made:
- Online at jpay.com,
- through the JPay app, or
- by phone at 1-800-574-5729.
This applies to every Missouri state prison.
How to deposit by mail
Deposits can also be made by mail. Send a money order or cashier’s check — not cash — made payable to “Missouri Department of Corrections,” together with a DOC deposit slip, to:
Offender Finance Office Missouri Department of Corrections P.O. Box 1609 Jefferson City, MO 65102
Mailed deposits generally post within about one to three business days. The Offender Finance Office can be reached at 573-526-6445.
Do not send personal mail or photos to the finance address. Personal mail goes to the off-site digital-mail center, not to the Offender Finance Office. See the mail guide.
How the account works
The person uses account funds for canteen (commissary) and approved purchases.
Account deposits are separate from money put on a phone/messaging account, which is handled through Securus. For phone and messaging funds, see the phone & video guide.
Fees and limits
Fees and limits change. Check JPay for current fees, limits, and how to set up an account. A quoted figure is not reliable; the vendor’s current schedule is the authoritative source.
