Phone & Video Calls in Oklahoma (Oklahoma DOC)
Oklahoma's Securus Technologies phone, tablet, messaging, and video-visit options, and how to set up and fund an account.
How phone calls work
Oklahoma DOC’s phone vendor is Securus Technologies, and families set up and fund accounts through Securus. The per-minute call rate is set in the vendor contract and is subject to change, so confirm the current rate with Securus before funding an account.
Calls are placed on the housing unit’s phones, and the tablets described below can also place calls. The incarcerated person places the call; families cannot call in. To receive calls, set up an account through Securus and have the incarcerated person’s full name and seven-digit ODOC number ready. Securus lists the service fees that apply to deposits and account transactions; review those fees at the point of payment, as they are charged in addition to call costs.
Tablets and messaging
Oklahoma DOC issues Securus JP6S tablets (JPay is a Securus subsidiary). In addition to placing phone calls, the tablets handle electronic messaging, ebooks, and other media services, and they are the device through which scanned personal mail is delivered. (Incoming personal mail is scanned off-site before it reaches the tablet — see Mail.) Per-message and per-item prices are set by the vendor and change, so confirm them before sending. Kiosks on the housing units are an alternative for account and messaging functions where a personal tablet is not in hand.
Video visits
Oklahoma DOC offers video visits through Securus, used on a smartphone, computer, or the JP6S tablet. Video visitation is a separate product from in-person visiting; the official visitation page covers in-person visits and does not address video. Because the video app and any per-session price are set by the vendor and change, confirm the current app and the per-session cost with Securus before booking, and confirm what is offered for the specific facility.
Sending money
Calls, tablet messaging, and the trust account that funds them are funded separately. For depositing to a trust account — through JPay — see Sending Money.
