Phone & Video in Idaho (Idaho DOC)
Idaho uses a split-vendor setup: phone calls run through ICSolutions, while tablets, messaging, and video run through ViaPath. How each channel works and how to set it up.
How phone calls work
Idaho’s phone vendor is ICSolutions (ICS Corrections, Inc.). The resident places the call; families cannot call in. To receive calls, families set up a prepaid account through ICSolutions in advance. ICSolutions customer service is 1-888-506-8407.
Have the resident’s full name and IDOC number ready when setting up the account. The per-minute call rate is set in the vendor contract and is subject to change. As of April 1, 2026, the Idaho Department of Correction listed the phone rate at $0.08 per minute; because the rate changes, confirm the current per-minute cost with ICSolutions or the facility before funding an account. Service fees may apply to deposits and account transactions in addition to call costs; review those at the point of payment.
Tablets
Idaho’s tablet vendor is ViaPath. As of the December 2025 communications update, ViaPath “Bridge 8” tablet deployment was complete across all facilities, replacing the prior JPay tablet. Each resident receives a tablet, charger, and earbuds at no cost. Tablet services — including messaging and media — are accessed through ViaPath, separate from the ICSolutions phone account.
Tablet features and the prices for messages and media are set by the vendor and change. Confirm what is currently available and what each item costs through ViaPath before funding an account.
Video visiting
Video visiting is offered through the tablet platform. It is a separate channel from in-person visiting and from the ICSolutions phone service.
Because the video service and its pricing are set by the vendor and can change, and because availability can differ from one facility to the next, confirm with the facility whether video visiting is currently offered there and how to set it up before relying on it. In-person visiting in Idaho is arranged per facility — see Visiting.
Out-of-state facilities
Some Idaho residents are held in CoreCivic-operated prisons in Arizona rather than at an Idaho facility. A person found on Idaho’s Resident/Client Search may physically be in Arizona, where the communications process is run by the contract facility, not by the standard Idaho setup.
For anyone held out of state, confirm phone, tablet, messaging, and video procedures directly with the Arizona facility. Tablet and video services can take time to set up after a person arrives at a new facility, so families should expect a delay before those channels are available. See the Idaho overview for more on out-of-state placements.
Sending money
Phone service through ICSolutions, tablet and messaging service through ViaPath, and the resident’s trust account are funded separately, through different vendors. For depositing to a resident’s trust account — through Access Corrections — see Sending Money.
