Overview
South Idaho Correctional Institution (SICI) is a minimum- and community-custody prison operated by the Idaho Department of Correction. It is one of the prisons clustered in the South Boise complex in Kuna, in Ada County, on Pleasant Valley Rd. Distinctively, SICI holds both men and women — roughly 400 women and 300 men.
What Makes South Idaho Correctional Institution Different
SICI is a work- and reentry-focused prison. It runs vocational work programs that place residents on Idaho Transportation Department road crews and on U.S. Forest Service conservation and fire crews, and it houses Correctional Industries operations. It also runs the pre-release program for most residents paroling from the Idaho system, and it includes a men’s reentry dorm known as the East Dorm.
The facility is one of the few in Idaho that holds both men and women. A new women’s prison is under construction in Kuna. When it opens — expected around 2027 — the women currently held at SICI are expected to move there, which would change the facility’s population. Because that change is pending, the current population and the location of any individual are confirmed on the Resident/Client Search rather than assumed.

Getting There
