Overview
Pocatello Women’s Correctional Center (PWCC), at 1451 Fore Road in Pocatello, holds women at all custody levels and operates the statewide women’s Reception and Diagnostic Center — the intake point for women entering Idaho’s prison system. It was the first Idaho facility designed specifically for women, opening in 1994.
Women enter the Idaho prison system through the Reception and Diagnostic Center here. Programs at the facility include vocational work, education, and pre-release and work-release programs.
PWCC is the designated facility for the one woman in Idaho under a death sentence; the state’s execution chamber is at the Idaho Maximum Security Institution in Kuna, not here.
