A men's supervision-sanction center in Batesville for people serving short sanctions for probation or parole violations; it opened in 2024 in a former juvenile facility.
Overview
The White River Correctional Center, in Batesville, is a supervision-sanction center — part of Arkansas’s community-corrections system rather than a traditional prison. It holds men who are serving short sanctions (often about 90 days, up to 180) for technical violations of probation, parole, or post-release supervision — for example, a missed check-in or a failed drug test — as a diversion from a longer prison term. It opened in 2024 in a former juvenile-detention facility and has about 162 beds. Because stays are short, a person may be here only briefly before returning to supervision.
What Makes White River Different
It is a short-term sanction center, not a standard prison — most people are serving brief sanctions and may be released back to supervision soon.
It holds technical violators, not people serving new-crime convictions, with a rehabilitation and reentry focus.
It is new (2024), in a converted juvenile facility, so ADC has published little about visiting — confirm directly.
Visiting
The statewide ADC rules — the approved visitor list, the no-white dress code, ID, and pre-scheduled visits — are the baseline, but as a community-corrections sanction center, White River’s visiting may differ.
The center is on County Yard Road in Batesville, in north-central Arkansas.
Distances are approximate, based on map routing. Visitor parking is on site.
Nearby Services
Batesville has gas, food, and lodging. The nearest 24-hour emergency room is White River Medical Center in Batesville.
Mail
Personal mail does not go to the facility. Since September 2025, ADC routes non-legal personal letters and photos to an off-site scanning center in Tampa, Florida, addressed with the person’s name and ADC number; the person receives the mail electronically. Legal mail, books, and magazines still go directly to the facility at the Batesville address. Full addressing details are in Mail & Packages.
