Overview
The Delta Regional Unit, at Dermott in the far southeast corner of Arkansas, is a regional men’s prison with a rated capacity of about 599. It also operates a jail and runs the WAGE workforce program and other education and vocational offerings. Its defining feature for families is its remoteness — deep in the Arkansas Delta, about 50 miles southeast of Pine Bluff.

Getting There and Parking
The unit is on East Gaines in Dermott, in the southeast Delta.
Distances are approximate, based on map routing. Visitor parking is on site.
Nearby Services
Dermott is small and no longer has a hospital. The nearest 24-hour emergency rooms are Chicot Memorial Medical Center in Lake Village, to the south, and McGehee-Desha County Hospital in McGehee, to the north. Lodging and food are limited near the unit.
Personal mail does not go to the unit. Since September 2025, ADC routes non-legal personal letters and photos to an off-site scanning center in Tampa, Florida, addressed with the person’s name and ADC number; the person receives the mail electronically.
