The Richard P. LeBlanc Unit is a TDCJ pre-release facility for men, listed at about 1,224 beds. It opened in June 1995 and sits in Jefferson County south of Beaumont, in the Southeast Texas coastal plain. General-population housing typically uses standard contact visiting, while more restrictive housing can mean different room assignments or non-contact procedures on the same weekend. The format follows the incarcerated person’s classification, so two families arriving the same morning may have different experiences.

Getting There and Parking

The LeBlanc Unit is in Jefferson County south of Beaumont, in Southeast Texas. The approach is by highway into the Beaumont area, then a farm-to-market road to the unit.

Beaumont is a full-sized city with gas, food, groceries, and lodging, so services are available before the final approach to the unit. Confirm the exact route to FM 3514 in advance, since two other TDCJ facilities in the same city sit at different addresses.

Phones, Mail, and Video

Contact has a sequence to it. A phone number must be on the incarcerated person’s approved contact list before calls can connect, and after intake or a transfer that approval can take time to process.
