The Kyle Unit is in Kyle, in Hays County, on Interstate 35 between Austin and San Marcos. The unit sits along the I-35 corridor, so the approach is by major highway rather than rural farm-to-market roads.

The trip is by private vehicle. The unit is just off Interstate 35, between Austin to the north and San Marcos to the south, so gas, food, and lodging are available in both Kyle and the nearby I-35 towns before reaching the unit.

A phone number must be on the incarcerated person’s approved contact list before calls can connect, and after intake or a transfer that approval can take time to process.
