How to deposit to the trust account

Money for commissary and personal spending goes into the incarcerated person’s trust account. NCDAC handles these deposits through ViaPath (GTL) / ConnectNetwork, with TouchPay as the trust processor. There are four routes:

• Online at ConnectNetwork.com, using a credit or debit card.
• In the ConnectNetwork app, using a credit or debit card.
• By phone. ConnectNetwork operates two lines: the Trust / PIN Debit line at 888-428-1845 and the AdvancePay line at 800-483-8314.
• By Western Union, using the payment code “NCDAC TRUST”.
• By money order, made payable to TouchPay and mailed to TouchPay Holdings, LLC, P.O. Box 174, Houston, TX 77001-0174.

Only approved visitors may deposit funds to an incarcerated person’s account.

Fees and limits

Deposit fees are set by the vendor and change over time. ConnectNetwork, TouchPay, and Western Union each charge a service fee that is shown before a transaction is completed, so confirm the current amount with the vendor at checkout. Confirm current fees with the vendor.

The phone and messaging account is separate

The trust account is not the same as the account that pays for calls and tablet messages. Phone calls and tablet messaging run on ViaPath, and that account is funded separately — money added to the trust account through TouchPay does not pay for phone time. Don’t hand money over at a visit

Funds are added only through the methods above. Money is not accepted in person during a visit, and personal mail does not reach the facility — North Carolina sends incoming personal mail to an off-site scanning vendor, so anything enclosed there is returned to the sender (see Mail & Packages). A money order intended for the trust account goes to TouchPay, not to the prison and not to the mail vendor.
