Nebraska's larger community corrections center, in Lincoln — the only one that houses women — where people at the lowest custody level live while on work or educational release.

Overview

The Community Corrections Center–Lincoln is one of Nebraska’s two community corrections centers — the lowest custody level in the state system and the least restrictive setting. People held here have generally worked their way down to community custody and are often nearing release. Many are on work release (private jobs in the community), work detail (supervised community jobs), or educational release (local colleges and vocational programs), so they regularly leave the facility during the day. It holds about 600 men and women (August 2025) and is the only Nebraska community corrections center that houses women. It opened in 1993; a women’s living unit was added in 2019.

What Makes CCC-Lincoln Different

  • It is a work-release facility, so a resident may be at a job or school in the community during weekday business hours rather than at the center.
  • It is the only NDCS community corrections center that houses women, in a separate living unit.
  • Because of the work-release schedule, visiting is on evenings and weekends, and the men’s and women’s units have different visiting days.
  • It is at the lowest custody level, so a person here is typically close to release.

Money, books, publications, and legal mail go to the facility’s own address — 2720 West Van Dorn Street, Lincoln, NE 68522. Full addressing details are in Mail & Packages.
