Overview

Parnall Correctional Facility, on East Parnall Road in Jackson, is a Level I minimum-security men’s prison with about 1,696 capacity. It opened in 1926, making it the oldest of the Jackson cluster, and is the minimum-security section of the former State Prison of Southern Michigan. It is a statewide reentry in-reach site that paroles people to all 83 Michigan counties, and it is home to a Vocational Village skilled-trades program. Parnall sits on the former State Prison of Southern Michigan grounds, alongside G. Robert Cotton, Cooper Street, and the Charles Egeler Reception Center.
