Sending Money in Michigan (MDOC)
How to deposit to a Michigan prisoner's account through GTL Financial Services, the $300 deposit limit, the money-order lockbox address, and MDOC's warning about payment-app scams.
Electronic deposits
Deposits are processed by GTL Financial Services. You can deposit online at ConnectNetwork.com, by phone at (888) 988-4768, or at a facility kiosk (cash, credit, or debit). The maximum single deposit is $300, and each method carries a fee that changes over time and rises with the amount, so confirm the current fee at checkout. Note that the prisoner’s phone (AdvancePay) account is separate from their spendable account — make sure you are funding the right one.
By mail (money order)
Money can be mailed only as a money order (no cash, no personal checks), made payable to GTL Financial Services, with a completed deposit form, to:
GTL Financial Services 10005 Technology Blvd. West, Suite 130 Dallas, TX 75220
There is no processing fee for a mailed money order. Questions about a mailed deposit go to GTL at (877) 650-4249.
Watch for scams
MDOC specifically warns that anyone asking you to send money through Cash App, Apple Pay, Zelle, PayPal, Venmo, or any service other than GTL Financial Services may be running a scam — those transfers do not reach the prisoner’s account.
How the account works
Deposited funds are spent through the canteen and are subject to collection for court-ordered or MDOC obligations under prison policy. The balance follows the prisoner between facilities.
