Gus Harrison Correctional Facility, on East Beecher Street in Adrian, is a Level I, II, and IV men’s prison in Lenawee County, with capacity for about 1,060. It opened in 1991 and is named for Gus Harrison, the Michigan Department of Corrections’ first director. It offers vocational training in optical, culinary arts, and license-plate production, has a degree partnership with Jackson College, and runs an assistance-dog training program. It is in southeast Michigan near the Ohio line, about 35 miles southwest of Ann Arbor.
