Overview

Bellamy Creek Correctional Facility, on West Bluewater Highway in Ionia, is a multi-level men’s prison holding prisoners in Levels I, II, and IV, along with protective housing and administrative segregation. It opened in December 2001 and is the most recent prison built by MDOC. It serves as a reentry “In-Reach” facility for prisoners with parole destinations in west and mid-Michigan. It is one of three state prisons clustered on West Bluewater Highway, alongside Ionia Correctional Facility and Richard A. Handlon Correctional Facility.
