A jail in downtown Hartford, in Connecticut's unified system, holding mostly men awaiting trial for the Hartford-area courts. All visits here are non-contact, through glass.
Overview
Hartford Correctional Center, in north-downtown Hartford, is a Level 4 jail holding primarily people awaiting trial. In Connecticut’s unified system there are no county jails — a Correctional Center is the jail — and Hartford serves as the pretrial facility for the Superior Courts in Bristol, Enfield, Hartford, Manchester, Middletown, New Britain, Rockville, and West Hartford. It opened in 1977 and also oversees a small inpatient medical-surgical ward at UConn Health in Farmington. Because most people here are held before trial, being listed at Hartford is not evidence of a conviction.
