A men's jail and prison in Uncasville, eastern Connecticut — the pretrial intake center for the New London and Norwich courts, holding both people awaiting trial and sentenced men. Formerly Corrigan-Radgowski; the Radgowski building closed in 2021.
Overview
Corrigan Correctional Center, in Uncasville (in the town of Montville), is a Level 3/4 facility holding both people awaiting trial and sentenced men — Connecticut’s unified system means one facility does both jobs. It opened in 1994 and serves as the pretrial intake center for the Superior Courts in Danielson, New London, Norwich, and Windham. As of mid-2026 it held about 670 men (roughly 390 sentenced and 270 awaiting trial). It was formerly called Corrigan-Radgowski Correctional Center; the separate Radgowski building closed in October 2021 amid a falling state prison population, and the facility now operates as Corrigan Correctional Center.
What Makes Corrigan Different
It is both a jail and a prison, holding people before trial and after sentencing — so the visiting rules depend on a person’s status and housing unit.
It is the pretrial intake point for eastern Connecticut, serving the Danielson, New London, Norwich, and Windham courts.
The Radgowski building closed in 2021, and the facility was renamed Corrigan Correctional Center.
Many visits are non-contact. Pretrial, protective-custody, and restrictive-housing visits are typically through glass; general-population visits are generally contact.
