Phone & Video Calls in Alabama (ADOC)
Alabama's single communications vendor (ICSolutions), the per-minute call cost, the tablet messaging system, and why video pricing should be confirmed at the source.
How calls work
Alabama’s communications vendor is ICSolutions (the change took effect August 1, 2025; it replaced the previous providers). The inmate places outgoing calls only — there are no incoming calls — and calls run about $0.08 per minute (a rate that changes, so confirm it). ADOC does not publish a recurring free-call allowance. Families set up and fund a prepaid account at icsonline.icsolutions.com or by phone at (888) 506-8407. Inmates may also have tablets that place calls.
Messaging
ICSolutions also runs electronic messaging to the tablet, at roughly $0.15 per message (with a few free each week). During the rollout, the app families use may differ by facility (for example, CorrLinks or GettingOut), so confirm which one reaches the person at their specific prison.
Video visits
Video visiting through ICSolutions is priced at about $0.16 per minute, but as of the 2025 transition it was marked “coming soon” and may not be live at every facility yet. Confirm whether video is available for the person’s prison, and the current cost, before relying on it.
