Dress code

No clothing with holes, rips, or torn pockets; nothing resembling a uniform; no sweat suits, hats, headbands, or hoods.
Nothing see-through, tight-fitting, low-cut, midriff-baring, or tank/halter/tube style.
No skirts, dresses, or shorts with slits reaching two inches or more above the knee; no metal hair ornaments.
Staff judgment is final; children 10 and under get a partial exception at staff discretion.

ID: A government-issued photo ID whose name and address match the visiting list. Children can use any government-issued photo ID, a Social Security card, or a birth certificate.
What to bring: Nothing comes into the visiting room except bottles, pacifiers, or sippy cups for children 2 and under — lockers hold everything else, and tobacco stays in the vehicle.
Scheduling: The incarcerated person submits the visitor list (up to 10 names, changeable every 90 days). Visits are walk-in during the posted block for their housing unit (alphabetical by last name at two facilities) — one visit a week, up to two hours — and arrivals in the last 30 minutes of a period are not processed.

Overview

The Northeast Correctional Complex is really two facilities on one site: the Northeast Regional Correctional Facility, a secure facility holding pretrial detainees and sentenced men, and the Caledonia work camp, a minimum-security dormitory whose residents have historically worked on paid community projects in the surrounding towns. The complex held about 190 men at the most recent posted count, roughly half of them awaiting trial — Vermont’s unified system means this is the jail and the prison for its region.

What Makes the Northeast Correctional Complex Different

Visiting is weekdays only — the only Vermont facility without weekend visits on its posted schedule, which matters enormously for working families.
The blocks are one hour, by housing unit: afternoon blocks at 2:45 and a morning block at 10:20, with the South and North units split by row across Thursdays and Fridays. The person’s unit — and for the dorms, their row — determines the only hour of the week a visit can happen.
The work camp side runs community crews, an arrangement DOC has described as part of the complex’s public-service role.
Like every Vermont facility, the handbook’s no-contact rule applies — hands on the table, no physical contact with visitors over 11.
