Phone & Video Calls in Pennsylvania (PADOC)
Pennsylvania's calling vendor (Securus), the ViaPath / ConnectNetwork tablet and messaging program, the free Zoom-based video visits run through PADOC's Inmate Visitation System, and where to confirm current per-minute call rates.
How phone calls work
Pennsylvania’s phone vendor is Securus. Calls are placed by the incarcerated person — families cannot call in. To receive calls, set up a prepaid account with Securus (Securus / Correctional Billing Services, 800-844-6591) using the person’s name and DOC inmate number.
Call rates
Do not rely on a fixed per-minute figure. Pennsylvania’s call rates are set under the FCC’s incarcerated-calling rules, which changed in 2024 and again in late 2025. Confirm the current rate with Securus or on PADOC’s “Contact an Inmate” page.
Tablets, email, and messaging
Tablets and electronic messaging run through ViaPath Technologies, via its consumer brand ConnectNetwork. Families send electronic messages through ConnectNetwork, and ViaPath supplies the inmate tablets, which provide email, music, games, and eBooks.
Video visits
Video visits run on Zoom through PADOC’s Inmate Visitation System and are free of charge. They are scheduled and approved like an in-person visit (see the visiting guide), and are separate from Securus and ViaPath.
