Phone & Video Calls in Georgia (GDC)
Georgia's phone vendor (Securus), the per-minute call cost and call limits, how prepaid accounts work, the ongoing JPay-to-Securus messaging transition, and why any video option should be confirmed at the source.
How calls work
Georgia’s phone vendor is Securus Technologies. The inmate places outgoing calls only — there are no incoming calls. GDC lists calls at $0.08 per minute for all call types, with a 25-minute maximum per call. Calls go only to numbers on the person’s approved Call Allow List, and GDC states that calls are monitored and recorded.
To fund calls, families set up a prepaid account with Securus (phone 1-800-844-6591). GDC notes a maximum deposit of $200 per transaction.
Messaging and email
Georgia historically used JPay for tablets and electronic messaging. After Securus’s parent company acquired JPay, GDC’s communications have been migrating toward Securus — a transition that produced documented service disruptions in 2023. Because the JPay-to-Securus migration has been ongoing, confirm which app or platform currently handles messaging and email at the person’s facility before relying on it. Electronic messaging is limited to people on the approved visitation list.
Video visits
GDC does not advertise a public remote or at-home video-visitation program. Confirm whether any video option is available at the specific facility before assuming one exists.
