Sending Money in Colorado (CDOC)
Why Colorado takes deposits only electronically through CorrectPay — no mailed money orders or cash — the mandatory 20% withholding, and how the trust account works.
Electronic deposits through CorrectPay
As of 2026, CorrectPay is CDOC’s exclusive deposit vendor — it replaced JPay in May 2026. Deposit online at correctpay.com, through the CorrectPay mobile app, or by phone at (855) 836-3364 (live agents, 24/7). Fees are set by the vendor and are not published by CDOC, so confirm the fee at checkout. Money sent before 4 p.m. Mountain time is generally available the next day; allow two to three days before a canteen order.
No money by mail
Colorado does not accept cash or money orders sent by mail — every deposit goes through CorrectPay’s electronic channels. This is different from many states, which still take a mailed money order, so do not mail money to a Colorado prison.
What gets withheld
By law, CDOC withholds at least 20% of any deposit toward court-ordered fines, fees, restitution, or child support the person owes. The remainder goes to their account.
How the account works
Funds are spent through the canteen — phone time, stamps, hygiene, food, and clothing. An incarcerated person generally cannot receive transfers from other incarcerated people or from their families (with limited immediate-family exceptions). The balance follows the person if they transfer prisons and is released to them on discharge or parole. Questions about the account go to the Inmate Bank at (719) 269-4271.
